Deal is for Two Books Over Six Months
(October 28, 2015) Skyhorse Publishing, Inc., America’s fastest growing independent publisher, today announced the signing of bestselling adult coloring book illustrator Marty Noble. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal is for two titles to be published over the next six months.
Marty Noble is a New York Times’ bestselling coloring book artist, with more than 300 books published and over 3 million copies of her books sold. Her designs and art have been used in book illustrations, posters, puzzles, greeting cards, plate designs, and calendars over the past 30 years. Her passions for photography and mastery of computer art programs have enabled her to marry the two in her recent print series depicting the natural beauty of Southern California. Noble lives in Santa Barbara, California.
The first book, Marty Noble’s Sugar Skulls: Coloring for Everyone will publish in January 2016. To make it easier for budding artists, the pages are perforated and printed on one side, allowing colorists to remove and display their finished designs easily. Sugar skulls, or calaveras, mark the arrival of the Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, in November. To celebrate this traditional Mexican holiday when the living honor their departed loved ones, sugar is molded into skull shapes and decorated with colors, patterns, and designs that delight, charm, and fascinate. In Marty Noble’s Sugar Skulls: Coloring for Everyone features forty-eight gorgeous and intricate line illustrations of both human and animal skulls. These specially crafted sugar skulls range across different aesthetic influences and complexity levels for both the amateur and advanced colorist. They are adorned with flowers, plants, patterns, wildlife, macabre imagery, and traditional Mexican art motifs that will engage your inner creativity and get your coloring juices flowing.
Following will be Marty Noble’s Peaceful World, coming out in March 2016. In Marty Noble’s Peaceful World, Noble invites colorists to explore the rainbow of our kaleidoscopic, multicultural world through coloring. Forty-eight detailed and intricate line illustrations will escort you through Japan, Indonesia, Guatemala, Morocco, Italy, and many more regions on the globe.
Since 2013, coloring books targeting adults have topped bestselling charts, selling more than 1.5 million copies in more than 22 languages. Five of the top 30 titles on Amazon’s bestseller list are coloring books aimed at adults.
Skyhorse Publishing was launched in September 2006 by Tony Lyons, former publisher of The Lyons Press. Tony talked to dozens of potential investors. Many asked the same question: “Can a book publishing company make it in the current environment?” His response remains: “Succeeding as an independent publisher is not easy, but by scouring the country for genre books that large publishers ignore, resurrecting forgotten classics, and by moving quickly, but with attention to detail, I believe we can flourish.” Skyhorse, with its one dozen imprints (Allworth Press, Arcade Publishing, Gary Null Publishing, Good Books/Fix It and Forget It, Helios Press, Hot Books, Night Shade Books, Not For Tourists, Sky Pony Press, Sports Publishing, Talos Press, and of course Skyhorse Publishing), has a backlist of over 6,200 titles, including a number of New York Times bestsellers.
Skyhorse is distributed by Perseus Books Group in the United States, Thomas Allen & Son in Canada, and Constable & Robinson, one of England’s oldest and most respected independent publishers, in the United Kingdom and the European Union.
